Fargesia is a familiy of bamboos, found in alpine conifer forests of East Asia. They are known in Chinese as \'jian zhu\' meaning \'arrow bamboo\'. Fargesia victualia is only found on Tanega Island, South of Japan and is grown both for food and fuel.
