Statement:
Sometimes, suddenly, and in spite of all things, a man gets overwhelmed by a crystal clear perception of every detail in his intermediate surroundings.
Fascination is somewhere in the space around us. Out of that space, rush pulsations of light and shadows, colours, smell and sound, all energies that stream between earth and sky. Rhythm is being created and then it vanishes again while curling through open senses.
Benumbed at first, in time, the observer learns how to focus and how to consciously control the door of perception. Decoding its sensations a person slowly discovers complex emotional reflections and comes to full awareness of itself in resonance with the magnificent world.
Without any need for consulting art theory or some art tendencies, using only sensibility and ability to create an illusion out of paint on canvas, I am trying to find the right density measurement of information which can get through the observers min
Landscape composition is a frame for content that triggers primal sense and leads toward self-knowledge. In order to provide the freedom for the observer to find a part of themselves in the image or an image in itself, I am actively removing the presence of explicit localities and overmuch element. Chosen scenes are never some special untouched wilderness, they are ordinary places without a name, just a step out of some road walked every day.
My works never show the human figure in a landscape, because that figure would become unwanted focus point in the scene. The observer is the main subject, moved by an image.
Expected, or the right appearance of things are the main pattern for two types of Landscape. The first one is close: it starts right in front ones feet and it goes as far as the arm can reach or as much as is needed for creating a composition. The other one is distant and it usually contains horizon, it captures a wide surface and a piece of sky.
I believe, primary themes that give paintings their titles: ground, grass, trees, river, rain, sun, will follow on, as long as they can invoke me to capture their reflection.
I am not trying to change the world. I am trying to change an observer’s perception of the world.
Vita / Lebenslauf:
Painter, Vladimir Vojvodic was born in Sabac, in 1958. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1985. Vladimir lives and works in Sabac, Serbia.
For many years he was experimenting with different techniques and mediums. Now, he concentrates on oil painting and prints in their most classical sense.
He also took part in many group exhibitions, biennials and art colonies in the country and abroad.
He exhibited in five cities and his paintings and prints live in more than a hundred places all over the World.
With Vladimir Vojvodic's paintings, the observer can see, feel and discover what painting really is. These paintings are expressions of calmness, but also of a spiritual adventure, craft, and show his passion and love for painting.
They are essential definitions of what painting can and should be. As a painter who can paint well, he can make an artistically challenging scene out of everything, just like the old masters: a painting with all its complicated elements and levels. It may seem to an untrained eye that some of his paintings are very skilfully analyzed photographs of landscapes, or paintings of

nature by memory, but they are just pure artistic solutions brought to the abstract. Vojvodic explores the colour, light, space, composition, local tone, shade and cast shade, and details, in the scenes which bring the joys of painting closer to an observer.
Harsh, but fluid at the same time, this kind of painting brings up emotions and caresses the senses. The world of herbs, meadows, flowers, bushes, trees, forest clearings and paths, cherry orchards and shadowy skies, is full of flavours and sounds of nature, those distant and woven ones. His paintings are the simplest and the most universal, as much as the art of landscape painting allows. They are common places where atmosphere, densities and characters are hidden.
This painter believes that all exaggerations in art are signs of weakness. In that sense, Vojvodic finds a limit in creation, an ideal spiritual remoteness in painting, which is in accordance with the closeness with the nature. As well as chamber music or poetry, these paintings awake the personal and the deepest: memories, dreams, joys, and sadness… Can we ask for more from art? With Vladimir Vojvodic's works, we feel the truth of art – celebration and peaceful mind, quietness and abstractness.
