Alex (Les) Breus is an independent artist. He was born in 1959 in the region of Kuban, Russia. In 1974, he graduated from a school of fine arts. Later, he graduated from Bauman Moscow National Technology University (1982) and took lectures in the press department of Taras Shevchenko Kiev National University (1990). He is a member of the social and ecological group of the independent artists "Strontium-90."
Alex Breus is a follower of Tralfrealism in fine arts. He would like to emphasize that the main idea of this art movement lies in the fact that associative and mental phenomena stand for reality worthy of being interpreted creatively and represented materially. This kind of Tralfrealism reveals his affinity with the "see-through" realism of Danyil Andreyev: the "other", "non-sensory" world shows, or comes partly into view, through the more immediate world of the here-and-now.
Aktivitäten / Ausstellungen:
The first graphic compositions of "The Others" cycle were created by Les Breus few years before the Chernobyl disaster when the artist lived in Pripyat, Chernobyl personnel town. His pieces were taken out of the deserted town after the evacuation of local residents from the Chernobyl exclusion zone.
The works of the artist are kept in the private and corporate collections in Ukraine, Russia, USA, Germany, Belgium, Japan, Great Britain, and so on.
For his participation in emergency operations inside the destroyed unit of Chernobyl nuclear power plant on April, 26, 1986 (within the first hours after explosion of reactor), Alex Breus was decorated with the government award: the medal "For honorable service."
