Statement:
Ich schlage Skulpturen aus verschiedenen Weichgesteinen wie Kalkstein, Alabaster, Bildhauermarmor, Serpentine und härtere Steatitsorten (Kisi, Galastone). Ausserdem mache ich Plastiken aus Ton. Zum optischen Konzept der Skulpturen gehört meistens ein Sockel, der sich in das Gesamtbild mit einfügt. Zum Aufsockeln verwende ich meist Buchenholz in Verbindung mit Metallwellen oder alten Zylinderlagern da mir das optische Zusammenspiel von Stein, Metall und Holz sehr gefällt. Die Skulpturen sind auf hohem handwerklichen Niveau in der Tradition alten Bildhauerhandwerks. Es sind gegenständliche Darstellungen verschiedenster Themengebiete. Das Spektrum reicht von grotesken Figuren die thematisch in die Renaissance passen bis zu suerrealen Skulpturen und Plastiken die eher dem phantastischen Realismus zu zuordnen sind. Viele Weichgesteine werden als Knolle unter der Erde gefunden, haben also ähnlich einer Kartoffel oder Rübe schon ein interessantes Äußeres. Ich versuche die Form oder Farbe der jeweiligen Gesteinsknolle in die Thematik der späteren Skulptur mit einfließen zu lassen. Ich möchte niedrig schwellige Kunst machen zu der auch Leute Zugang finden die durch den meist hochintellektuellen Charakter moderner Kunst Berührungsängste haben. Das Objekt soll für sich selber sprechen.Ich möchte eine Kunst schaffen die einen starken Bezug zum Handwerk hat und die durch die Schönheit des Objektes oder die direkte Emotion die beim Anschauen ensteht, dem Betrachter einen Zugang zur Thematik gewährt. Mein Wunsch ist es Skulpturen auf hohem handwerklichen Niveau zu erschaffen die auch inhaltlich überzeugen. Die Skulpturen sollen nicht nur eine Geschichte erzählen sondern auch als Dekorationsobjekt ihre Umgebung aufwerten.
