England to Cyprus and back again.
Dreams and Mythologies
When I arrived in Cyprus, late September 2007, I was principally a stone carver and a maker of measured life drawing that informed my carving.
Now three years on I am still working with stone but also with found objects, timber, twigs, kebab sticks, colour and oil pastel.
The main change has been the variety of materials that I now use to make sculpture and scale. I have become increasingly interested in making work that is either around life-size or half life-size with found timber. Or miniature, as is the case with the kebab stick and twig works, I no longer work from measured drawings, these figures are more intuitive, though still often based on measurements taken from my own body.
My drawing has also changed from painstakingly detailed work as an illustrator through to measured observational drawing from the life model to the more instinctive oil pastels. I use them as stubs, almost my fingers...it feels somewhat like carving in colour.
More often than not, they are derived from mythology, ancient archaeology, dreams and increasingly day to day events, meetings and places. This is very evident in the oil pastels produced during 2009/11.

Worked as a Graphic Designer/Art Director and Illustrator for children\'s book publishers and advertising agencies in London, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Began stone carving in 2000 and in 2002/06 gained a BA Fine Art, Sculpture, degree at Canterbury Christ Church University.
2007/08 Artist in Residence and Post Graduate Student at Cyprus College of Art, Lemba.
2008/09 Post Graduate Tutor, Cyprus College of Art
2009/11 Working artist, Folkestone.UK
My work is derived from the human figure, landscape and increasingly mythology. Ovid\'s \'Metamorphosis\' and the use of these myths throughout art history. For many years I have been fascinated and inspired by Cycladic figurines, archaic Greek and Egyptian sculpture.
