Statement:
Liz Howe's series of Landscape Markers serve as visual documentations of objects and places encountered during the course of everyday life. Road signs, highway markings, curves, straight-ways and geography traversed throughout a day collide with electrical outlets, red LED lights and other domestic objects. Choosing contrasting elements within the contemporary landscape and juxtaposing these elements through sculptural form she aims to create dialogues between the natural world and the 'man-made' while contemplating connections both physical and metaphysical.
Bio / Resumee / Statement:
Liz Howe was born in Albany, NY and currently serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Ceramics at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She holds a B.S. in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz, an M.S. in Art Education from The College of St. Rose and an MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Liz maintains an active ceramics studio practice and exhibition schedule including recent shows at The Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA, The New Hampshire Institute of Art, the Saratoga Arts Center Gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, San Angelo, TX, the Ceramics Museum of L'Alcora, Spain and the Museu del Fang in Mallorca, Spain.
