Vita / Lebenslauf:

My new works are more symbolic, but function as emblems of contemporary beauty. They refer to the character of beauty today, in which beauty is presented as something highly tangible and available to anyone, but in fact it is not. Thinking about this concept led me to understand that the digital revolution reshaped our world very profoundly. One simple mouse-click can send digital information world wide in a brief second. But apart from the well-known accumulation of information and images, digitalisation is also responsible for the glossification (making colourful-luxurious) of the printed press. Although this seems to be a development with no real significance, it is actually not!
First of all does it unite all sort of images in a glossy world, secondly it represents a world that is highly emotional and sensitive, thirdly it bleaches our daily reality and fourthly it is in fact pure logic, constructed myth with supernatural beings.

In my new works I try to grasp the world that is shaped through glossification, attributes and people are combined to develop alternative forms of beauty, in this venture it is important that these forms of beauty are contrasting with forms of live, a notion that Agamben puts forward in his book: \"Homo Sacer\". Forms of live are singular and real, and potentially free.
It is a new path for me to use sculptures, but I find it a dazzling medium in connecting the world of glossification with our daily reality, therefore the skin and tactility of the sculptures are one of the most important concerns for me. The idea of illusion is also stretched in these sculptures, because they look real, but never are. In other words: they are materialised illusions. For instance the plaster cushions are flocked en seem soft and light, but in reality are hard and cold. Thanks to the rule of the art world; that one does not ever touch a work of art, they have the same effect so peculiar to the effect of glossification. Art is a pure (conceived from the public side) sensory experience of only one faculty: the eye! In this way, art makes sense, creates feelings through the portal of the eye, and we all know by now that the eye is easy to mislead.
