Statement:
The artisan known as BeeQueen is a conundrum of secrets and passions. Her art is uniquely expressed in a medium particularly well-suited to her complex personality. Created in a moment when hot melted wax is most malleable and ready to apply, her work captures those Zen-like gestures of expression that are inevitably an antidote to the pitfalls of contrived imagery. Much like water colors, the fluidity of the encaustic wax process makes it difficult to go back and correct something and yet it is probably this forward-only nature of this medium that makes it so exciting and revealing.
Perhaps also, the immediacy of the process has led BeeQueen to create works that appear in series, as we see expressed in her Eves Garden series or her Jungle series and her more provocative erotic pieces featuring submissive males under-foot.
