Notizen zur Kunst

Viele Leute glauben, der Computer als Medium der Kunst setze lediglich voraus, daß man einen oder mehrere Buttons anklickt und schon entstehen - wie Eva aus einer Rippe Adams - Bilder, Zeichnungen, Grafiken und virtuelle Skulpturen...

Wodurch unterscheidet sich Malerei am Computer von traditioneller Malerei auf Leinwand, an die wir spontan denken, sobald wir von Malerei sprechen? Vor allem riecht es nicht nach Farbe, Terpentin, Harzen, Lösungsmittel, nach Leim und Tinte.
Und früher, ich meine in der langen Periode des Tafelbilds vor Erfindung der Künstlerfarbe aus der Tube, was war das wohl für ein Geruchsgemisch aus Kohle, Talg und Fett, Ölen, Kreiden, Mineralien, Erden, Tierhäuten, Exkrementen und Innereien, mit denen findige Geister, die ausschließlich ihre Kunst im Sinn hatten, experimentierten. Und selbstverständlich fand auch Blut verschiedener Provenienz als Malmittel Verwendung.
All diese sonderbaren, je nach Temperament möglicherweise als anstößig empfundenen Ingredienzien, mischten sich im Verlauf eines geheimnisvollen Malprozesses zu Gemälden, vor denen Bettler und Könige und, geben wir es nur zu, auch wir nach Jahrhunderten noch auf den Knien liegen...

Ich male alles, was mir in den Sinn kommt. Dem Uneingeweihten klingt das nach Beliebigkeit. Faktisch jedoch bewegen sich die Dinge, denen man künstlerisch auf die Spur kommt, im Rahmen der verinnerlichten Erfahrung, zu welch unterschiedlichen Resultaten man im Einzelnen auch gelangen mag. Dynamik, Struktur und das Verhältnis der Kompositionselemente im Bild ordnen sich nach ganz den gleichen Prinzipien, wie sie fürs eigene Denken verbindlich sind, nur daß sie in diesem Falle nicht Sprache, sondern bildnerischer Ausdruck werden. Einziges Kriterium fürs Gelingen ist, ob das jeweilige Resultat den selbstgesetzten ästhetischen Forderungen genügt oder nicht. So malt man letzten Endes nur, was einem möglich ist..

Der Mythos des individuellen Stils gründet in dem Mißverständnis, daß man eine einmal gefundene Ausdrucksform, gelegentlich ein interessantes Thema oder auch nur ein besonders geglücktes Motiv in die Zukunft hochrechnet, anstatt das Fluktuierende, das, was das im Augenblick Gefundene über sich selbst hinaustreibt, als innerstes Bewegungsgesetz der Kunst anzuerkennen und diesem Impuls ins unbekannte Terrain nachzuforschen...

Der Computer ist das ideale Medium für all jene ungeduldigen Geister, die angesichts der Wiederholung des Alles-schon-einmal-dagewesenen in der Kunst ausrufen: \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Schön, wagen wir einen neuen Versuch, nun aber mit mehr Elan und Rasanz!\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Wohl wissend, daß sie ihr Versprechen ganz nicht werden einlösen können. Es wird etwas Neues sein, so überraschend neu und bekannt zugleich wie einst das fotographische Porträt neben dem gemalten ein und desselben Menschen..

Welche ästhetischen Möglichkeiten, um nicht zu sagen Welten, im Computer verborgen liegen und es noch zu heben gilt, dazu braucht es eher den wissenschaftlich Inspirierten, als den Spontanen: Er allein wird in der Lage sein, Artefakte hervorzubringen durch seine Neigung zum Kalkül und seiner reflektierten Leidenschaft für die Kunst. Und Reflexion heißt, arbeiten an dem, was noch auf dem Weg ist zu werden...

Das Faszinierende der Kunst, die am PC entsteht, auf jenem irritierend klaren Tableau der knapp 50x30 cm großen Bildschirmfläche, - das Faszinierende dieser Kunst besteht zweifellos darin, hier mit verschiedenen Mal- und Fotobearbeitungsprogrammen neue ästhetische Wirklichkeiten zu entwickeln - und dies ausschließlich aus jenem überaus unfassbaren Stoff: Licht und Elektronik...

Wollte man diesen Gedanken fortsetzen, und man muß ihn ja fortsetzen, um dem Medium und der Arbeitsweise, sowie den Unterschieden aber auch Ähnlichkeiten und Parallelen mit traditionellen künstlerischen Techniken und Vorgehensweisen einigermaßen gerecht zu werden, dann sei an dieser Stelle wenigstens soviel gesagt: Welche Materialien, welche Techniken und Konzepte, welches angesammelte Wissen und schließlich welche Überzeugungen des Künstlers es sind, die das Kunstwerk in seinem Entstehen bestimmen, hat – sobald die Arbeit vollendet ist – Bedeutung ausschließlich für den Betrachter.
Er, der Betrachter, wird die Einheit des Bildes, der Skulptur, Installation in für ihn wahrnehmbare und damit deutbare Momente zerlegen und damit dem Werk seine Sprache geben. Nur so ist wenigstens ansatzweise zu verstehen, warum die einen für Vermeer-Blau schwärmen, andere für das Blau des Yves Klein. Andere wiederum suchen im Kunstwerk die beruhigenden Wirkung von Sedativa, finden diese dort aber stets nur höchst unvollkommen...

Bio / Resumee / Statement:
In Mannheim geboren, Schauspielschule, Hochschuldstudium, Ende der 70ger Jahre Atelierschüler im Kubus Mannheim ? Malerei auf Leinwand: Serie Schwarzbilder, Zeichnungen und Sprühbilder? Studium der Philosophie und Soziologie in Frankfurt.

1985 gründete ich das Theater auf der Ferdinand Cramer-Bühne an der Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt. Bis es 2001 geschlossen werden mußte, inszenierte ich Dramen von J.P. Sartre, Virginia Woolf, Beckett, Peter Handke, Pinter, Fo, Albee, Jandl, Tschechow u.a.; entwarf Bühnenbilder und realisierte Bühneninstallationen. Daneben schrieb ich Erzählungen und Funkmonologe für den HR. (s.meine Website)

Als Maler am PC arbeite ich, abgesehen von zahlreichen Plakatentwürfen für das Theaterab den späten 80gern, seit 2000. Es entstanden Bilder, Grafiken und Zeichnungen, die ich bis zum Format 60x100 cm auf dem eigenen HP Designjet ausdrucke. Einzelne Bögen überarbeite ich nachträglich mit Tinte, Acryl, Filz- und/oder Farbstift, manchmal grundiere ich das Papier und/oder drucke zur Steigerung von Farbtiefe und Brillanz zwei- oder dreifach übereinander.

Ende Dezember 2006 wurden im TV die Hinrichtungsfotos von S. Hussein gezeigt. Mein Videorekorder war nicht zur Hand. So fotografierte ich kurzentschlossen mit der Digitalkamera jene irrealen Szenen. Daraus entstanden die Foto-Serien: Tele-Visions I + II - Fotos aus Nachrichtensendungen, wie sie die weltweiten TV-Sender täglich verbreiten. >>>>>> http://www.modern-digital-art.net

Von den den Tele-Visions zurück zur klassischen Fotografie ist ein kleiner Schritt. Ihn zu tun, liegt in der Natur der Sache. Sie, die Fotografie, ob virtuell oder konventionell, ist eine Facette mehr im Spektrum der Kunst, die ohne zu suchen findet. So arbeite ich malerisch/(foto)grafisch am PC, lasse im Fotolabor entwickeln und führe einzelne Arbeiten auf Leinwand aus.
