Grouillement ? Ils en font une t괥, les 괲es portraiturés par Didier Genty ! Dépecés, illuminés, ils semblent constitués de néons incandescents, de tunnels entrelacés, de réseaux en tous genres, tous en action. Tout bouge tout le temps, dans les ?uvres comme dans le quotidien de cet ancien élève des beaux-arts de Bordeaux, qui gagne sa vie comme ingénieur culturel ou comme scénographe lors d?expositions d?art contemporain. Entre deux chantiers, il peint. Jusqu?à quatre cents ? t괥s ? par an !
Il y a trente ans, il s?agissait d?un travail à la cire, sur de grands tirages photographiques. Des autoportraits, en fait. ? Les temps étaient aux performances, aux expériences théatrales liées au travestissement. L?urgence était de déconstruire ?. Puis, sont venus d?autres visages trafiqués, en exploitant les possibilités de l?ordinateur. Retour à la peinture, finalement, par besoin d?échafauder entièrement des structures, de reconstruire? Par plaisir, aussi : retrouver des sensations éprouvées face à certaines toiles de Vélazquez, Rembrandt ou Bacon, et plus encore devant des dessins d?Artaud. ? Il ma toujours hanté ??

Pas de modèles, rien que des souvenirs de planches anatomiques ? un an d?études en biologie avant les beaux-arts obligent - ! ? J?aime les muscles, la circulation sanguine, les dessous de la peau? L?identité, c?est l?ADN, invisible, intérieure. Mes portraits sont davantage liés à l?괲e profond d?un individu, au-delà des apprences. Au visage je préfère son empreinte. J?évite ainsi la complaisance propre à la pratique du portrait et de l?autoportrait, pour lesquels je préfère utiliser un appareil photo? !
