Vita / Lebenslauf:
I was born on August 15, 1961 in Russia. I have two university degrees: in art and biology. In Biology I learned about the anatomy and the study of wildlife, but only Art taught me how to interpret those things. In 1989 I began my career as an artist with my first exhibition in the Museum of Serpukhov, a city not far from Moscow. Following this exhibition, I was invited to show my work in Germany and on several Russian TV programs. My first exhibition also gave me an invaluable experience: having been acquainted with my audience, I saw people with personal problems, unrealized dreams and pitying themselves. This is also what they experienced in my paintings, which were not distinguished by an optimistic mood or theme (it was a time of restructuring in Russia – the perestroika – as well as in people’s minds).

But I understood after my first exhibition that I want to carry my audience into a positive mood, changing both them and their environment: let my paintings bring joy and the desire to change for the better, to understand something new. The implementation of this idea was met with success, and I don’t regret any missed opportunities. From 1989 to 2001 I had a lot of exhibitions in Russia and abroad (Europe and the USA).

Then I suddenly discovered the palette-knife technique. My desire was to use pure bright colors, which is not possible in classical painting. As a result I found that the color itself already does the job of bringing joy, regardless of the topic. Also, the palette-knife has a certain randomness that cannot be repeated, making a painting truly exclusive.

In 2001 I moved to Switzerland, and exhibitions in Basel, Zurich, and Geneva followed. The combination of European freedom with the Slavic mentality has resulted in my own style, demanded by art lovers. About 1000 of my works have been sold to private collections around the world so far. But art is not only about the result, it is a process and always in development. And it still brings joy.
