Karen Joubert Cordier
French-American, born in Neuilly sur Seine on the 29th August 1954.
Studied art and Design at the Charpentier School, Paris. Began painting under the guindance of the collector Daniel cordier.
Today Karen is represented in prestigious international collections and in French museums
In thirty years Karen has explored every corner of her interior senses to create the emotions she has lived through.
The painting introspective from her beginnings, now leaves time for a more playful side which, however, loses nothing of the fine technique constantly evident in all her work.
In fact, as the art critic, Bernard Lamarche Vadel described her work: “ pointillism, surrealism, all over, expressionism, all the principles of the great movements of the Twentieth Century pulled together.�
Karen embraces the surrealist and disturbing side of Dali, the colours of Le Douanier Rousseau, the technique of Arcimboldo, and the modernity of Robert Combas.
Karen makes children dream, psychoanalists delve into themselves and wakes up academic minds.
Never lacking inspiration, always ready for new experiences, with a curiosity for everything inside and outside the conventional norms.
Since thirty years nothing has daunted her advances into the known and unknown.Karen painting mixes her love of nature, her travels and her meetings and contacts which throughout her life have proved such an inspiration.
In 1996 Karen put her series of paintings aside to achieve the realisation of a monumental cartoon (Pop Art) measuring 10 metres by 1 metre 50 retracing her childhood often spent abroad the “France� and other legendary liners (the opus was acquired by the museum of the Marine du Havre )
Daughter of the chief purser of the French line, Karen crossed the Atlantic 49 times often in the company of legends ( like Hemingway, Hitchcock, Dali,.)
Karen also paints on huge spheres, and animals, transforming the banal into magic.
Her art is a constant adventure of spirit and action, transporting the eye into other worlds.
