Statement:
In my work, I’m doing images partially inspired by the American artists that were a part of the “Ash Can School”. My work deals with images inspired by people and places that I see around me, in the city of Los Angeles. I like to think of myself as a photographer who happens to draw.
In my personal work, I create images of people and place around me. You might call me a “visual journalist” or an “urban realist”. I try to capture the world around me, as objectively as I possibly can. I try to research with my own eyes, through a direct experience with the subject matter.
Photojournalism is a field in photography which I am inspired by. My work parallels photojournalism, because I, too, am trying to reflect the world that I see around me. However I do it in the form of drawings/paintings. My drawings are inspired by this kind of observation These are my ways of capturing snapshots.
