Bio / Resumee / Statement:
Photography and motion pictures, are to me the same as breathing, like a heartbeat. More than a necessity. Somehow, it enables me to talk about my fear that torments deep inside, maybe to be more at peace with myself, to be being more accepted by others, That's what I hope. It helps to understand the world I live in. What else could I do? I have never thought of any other possibilities....An Artist has a desire to produce things and he pursues this desire. He's able to deal with the world in a special way : The aim is to connect with it differently and to question certain things taken for granted.

First of all, I would say that some of my works are based on real observations and my journeys... It is often said that photography has a memory function. But it's not my state of mind, any more.... I make few photos to remember what I saw and prefer to remember the things for myself : That's what really matters.

Two main aims of my work are immersing myself in European cities that now tend to look the same : globalisation, lack of identity and even authenticity. For me, it's frustrating, and hard to find a release from this.

I refuse to view just the surface of objects, or I have an inability to appreciate the things at their own face value, and it leads me to recreate another faded and altered reality.... Not a representation (reproduction) of the existing world, but the construction of my own world.

I try to suggest and create a personal space with it's own codes : what the filmmakers and the semiologists call «diagèse ». But my universe is not confined to cities, and sometimes it is nice to go for a walk with nature just to see the results of the mess we've made. Paradoxically, I like to experience the fear when I see nature collapsing under my eyes: I see so many overwhelming moments, such as storms.

I'm in a process of experimentation , deconstruction and recontruction ... I select certain details, reproduce them, and reject others like, cities and buildings.

Working with black and white I often try to create dark, ambiguous, mysterious and frosty athmospheres.... My style is partly related to my environment: often austere, and linked to the interactions I have with people. Surrealism inspires me too, as well as my passion for contemporary American architecture. I must say that B and H Becher have blown my mind, even if their style is not visible on my pictures

My other works are clearly inspired by the pictoralism, French and American photography... but they feel old and washed out, but all the tightness of their materiality is new....

Most of the time, I use several techniques; including argentic photography and digital photography. The digital production I engage in can not and does not have to be conceived as a single pure medium. Unlike artists who work exclusively on and through the Web, the following images exist outside of the digital system that produced them... In this way it's also possible to keep photography for what it is. Also I like to mix my photography with other techniques, such as pastel, to make patchworks or collages. The question of time and space is equally important- modern techniques allow me to work with several layers within a single artwork. That way I can define a new temporality to the image.

Some of my works can be seen as paintings : In fact, I try to work as a photographer – painter... Or a painter – photographer ( it's up to you ) .... But most important for me, is working with light.

According to critics, my works are pleasantly thought provoking and extreme although accessible at least, for the moment. It's also important that the audience feel challenged by what I do. I think that an artwork exists because it can engage with someone. Viewers are never mentally still in front if my photographs, at least that's what I'm trying to achieve.
